Fragrance Application Technique
Here’s your quick and easy guide to applying perfume so it lasts longer—without coming off too strong! Follow these 10 steps, and get ready to smell amazing all day.
1. Start with a Shower or Bath
Perfume sticks better to warm skin, so hop in for a hot shower or bath first. Make sure you dry off thoroughly (especially those pulse points) before spritzing.
2. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize
Dry skin is like a desert—it’ll soak up your fragrance and make it disappear faster. Smooth on an unscented lotion or a tiny bit of Vaseline where you plan to spray. This helps lock in the scent.
3. Perfume Before Clothes
Before you get dressed, give yourself a spritz. This way, you can easily hit all those key spots without risking stains on your outfit.
4. Hit Your Pulse Points
Your pulse points (like your neck, wrists, inner elbows, behind the ears, and even behind the knees) are warm spots that help diffuse fragrance. If you want to smell the perfume on yourself, go for the neck, collarbones, and wrists. If you’re aiming to leave a light scent trail for others, try the back of your neck or knees.
5. Skip the Rub
It’s tempting to spray your wrists and rub them together, but that actually kills some of the top notes. Spritz and let it air dry for the best results.
6. Go Easy on the Spritz
A little goes a long way—especially if you’re wearing a concentrated perfume. Resist the urge to keep spraying just because you stop noticing the scent; your nose adjusts quickly, but others can still smell it.
7. Spritz, Don’t Mist
Rather than spraying perfume into the air and walking through it, focus on those specific pulse points. Spraying it into the air can waste a lot of product (and it may land where it won’t last long).
8. Comb It into Your Hair
Hair holds fragrance longer than skin. For less damage, spray perfume on a brush and gently comb it through. (Bonus tip: Perfume oils or water-based scents are even gentler on your locks.)
9. Spritz Clothes with Caution
Perfume can last longer on fabric than on skin. If you want an extra boost, add a little to your clothes or scarf. Just be careful with darker perfumes that might stain—and remember, the scent on clothes won’t “mingle” with your natural skin smell.
10. Change It Up
Your nose gets used to the same fragrance if you wear it every single day, which makes it seem like the scent is fading. Switching perfumes helps refresh your sense of smell. And remember, lighter fragrances (especially citrus or green) usually don’t stick around all day, so keep a travel-size on hand for touch-ups!

11. Own Your Uniqueness!
Wear what speaks to you—unapologetically. If everyone was the same, life would be painfully dull. Your skin is yours alone, so let that fragrance mingle with your natural edge. Be bold, be different, and let your true self shine. Because nobody does you better than you!
